Controller is an option in Completing the Mission during the "Pardoned Pals"/"Toppat Recruits" pathway. It is one of four tools that Henry Stickmin and Ellie Rose can combine to try and escape the guards from The Wall and the Government.
The controller can be combined with an RPG or Wings. Both options result in a fail:
- Controller + RPG: Henry Stickmin and Ellie Rose attempt to guide the rocket to the Wall soldiers. However, the projectile is too slow in its approach, so Henry and Ellie end up getting killed by a blast from The Wall Tank.
- Controller + Wings: The controller flies to the sky.

- The controller's appearance resembles that of the Nintendo 64's controller.
- The controller, however, has some difference to it's presumed original. The Nintendo 64 controller had two other buttons under the 4 colors or the 4 buttons, usually in color schemes if circle.
- The fail message for Controller + Wings references a widely-memed tweet from Donald Trump: "Thank you Kanye, very cool!"
- The fail message for Controller + RPG references the two meanings of "RPG", one being "rocket-propelled grenade" and the other meaning "role-playing game".
- Controller and Wings are one of only seven fails that don't do anything to Henry or his team, the others being Cheese, Bridge, Hot Knife, Emerald and Melt Ray.
