Escape Pods appear in Infiltrating the Airship and Completing the Mission as standard equipment of the Airship and Toppat Orbital Station respectively.

Airship Escape Pods[]

Airship escape pod

The Airship of the Toppat Clan has multiple escape pods that can be used to quickly evacuate the ship, but also to pick people up and return them to the ship.

They are the same color as the airship, conical in appearance, and can hold at least 4 people.

In the "Government Supported Private Investigator" pathway, Henry is forced to use one of the escape pods after his attempt to disguise himself leads to the other Toppats mistaking him for Gordon Smith, and offering him to go and visit his wife, who is in the hospital giving birth.

In "Pure Blooded Thief", after entering the surveillance room of the airship, Henry mistakes an escape pod for an elevator, and when he tries to take it, he is launched out of the ship towards an unknown destination, leading to a fail.

At the start of "Toppat Civil Warfare", Henry uses an escape pod to return to the airship, but unbeknown to him Ellie Rose stows away on the pod too. At the end of the pathway, Henry, Dave, Geoffrey Plumb, and Thomas Chestershire take an escape pod to leave the airship, and in the process accidentally kill Reginald Copperbottom and the Right Hand Man.

Toppat Orbital Station escape pods[]

TOS - regular escape pod

Regular escape pods

The Toppat Orbital station has various escape pods. Most look like red spheres, with a single window. They are divided in several classes, including one specifically for the higher ups in the Toppat Clan.

These escape pods play a prominent role near the end of the "Valiant Hero" pathway, when Henry and Charles Calvin have to escape the damaged orbital station. They find three potential ones:

  • Luxury Escape Pod (Fail): They find six elite Toppats, Carol Cross, Mr. Macbeth, Albert Poshley, Gene Fredrickson, Ahnoldt Schwarz, and Sven Svensson, already inside. When Charles asks if there's extra space in the pod for two more people, the elites (apart from Gene and Albert) draw their firearms on him and Henry. Message: Rude.
  • Occupied Escape Pod (Fail): The right-most pod is already carrying a fleeing Toppat member, HazMatt, who is startled by Henry and Charles' presence after Henry opened the door. Matt closes the door back down, but he accidentally triggers the pod's reverse thrusters, which cause the pod to violently crash into Henry and Charles. Message: Why do they even HAVE that lever?
  • Cracked Escape Pod: Henry opens the cracked escape pod with some degree of difficulty, where they find nobody inside. Charles gets attacked by Jacked Hughman and, to save him, Charles throws Henry inside. The escape pod door closes behind Charles and launches. The orbital station violently explodes, killing Charles inside.

The Toppat Leader has his own private escape pod, which doubles as his office. This escape pod is seen in "Jewel Baron". However, Sven Svenson, despite being the leader of the Toppat Clan in the "Valiant Hero" pathway, still uses the "Luxury" escape pod. This implies that he was unaware of this escape pod's existence or it was already launched by someone else.

Trivia[]

  • The pods in CtM have a resemblance to the crewmates from Among Us. This could be a reference or a coincidence.
  • It is unknown how Ellie remained uncrushed and entered into the Airship in the TCW ending, as it seems impossible.
  • There is probably no controls over the escape pods of Both the Airship and the Station as well. This is mostly indicated by the interior of the pods and the fact that Henry simply folds his hands when Landing on the Airship.
    • This indicates that there is probably a pre-planned Autopilot or an FMC (Flight Management Computer).
    • The Cyan crewmate can be seen in the Luxury Escape Pod. Clicking it is necessary for the Assemble the Crew achievement.
  • The occupied Escape Pod fail references the 2000 Disney film, The Emperor's New Groove, when Kronk flips the wrong lever, Yzma falls into a pool of crocodiles, and returns, asking her "Why do we even have the lever?".
