Gene Fredrickson, formerly known as Mayor Fredrickson, is a recurring character in the Henry Stickmin Series who appears as a major character in Stealing the Diamond and as a minor antagonist in Completing the Mission.
He is a high-ranking member of the Toppat Clan and the former mayor of City Hall, West Mesa, Arizona in which the National Museum of History and Culture is located, who had to flee after his plans to steal a diamond were uncovered. He is later revealed to be an elite member of the Toppat Clan, appearing in two endings of Completing the Mission.

Appearance[]
Gene is an obese stick figure and wears a black waistcoat with a red bowtie (changed to pink in remastered version) and black shoes. He also has a dark grey top hat and wields a brown wooden cane (changed to dark grey in remastered version). Gene also has a long grey mustache for facial hair with bushy grey eyebrows. His appearance does not change between him being mayor or a Toppat Clan member.
Stealing the Diamond[]
In a broadcast from NCC on TV, he announces that the grand exhibit on live, showing off the huge Tunisian Diamond. His announcement on the news inspires Henry Stickmin to steal the diamond, indicating that Henry is likely in need of money which is also apparent by the run-down appearance of his house and his paper telling off his late rent.
Sometime later after Henry successfully manages to steal the diamond, the mayor's plans to smuggle the diamond for himself were uncovered. To avoid arrest, he had to flee from his office.
Completing the Mission[]
Valiant Hero[]
Gene appears in the luxury escape pod in the Valiant Hero path with other elite members of the Toppat Clan. During a fail, when Henry and Charles Calvin try to escape the Toppat Orbital Station before it explodes, they enter the Luxury escape pod where Gene and all the other high-ranking Toppats are.
When the "Mission Failed" screen appears, everyone in the luxury escape pod pulls out guns on Henry and Charles except for Gene and Albert Poshley. He is seen sitting down and seems to be inrtigued by the duos appearance rather than shocked or ready to fire at them.
Toppat Civil Warfare[]
He is also seen in the Toppat Civil Warfare route at the beginning, when Reginald Copperbottom, Right Hand Man and the rest of the Toppats (excluding Geoffrey Plumb and Thomas Chestershire) turn against Henry for abandoning Ellie Rose at The Wall. He can be seen in the cockpit of the Airship along with a variety of other Toppat Clan members.

Trivia[]
- He's a character with a major impact on the story. He only appears in a single scene before Completing the Mission, but him talking about the Tunisian Exhibition on TV, is what informs Henry about the Tunisian Diamond. So, Gene is indirectly responsible for every event that happens in Stealing the Diamond.
- According to his description, it is clear that he was planning to steal the diamond by pretending to be the mayor.
- In the cancelled Ellie Rose spin-off series, Fredrickson was going to be the Toppat Clan's inside man to help them steal the Tunisian Diamond easily, not realizing Henry stole it first.
- In The Henry Stickmin Collection, Gene is one of the only characters from the previous games to have a voice line re-recorded by PuffballsUnited as most of the recorded lines are kept the same from the older versions of the games.
- Gene noticeably sounds older in the legacy series than he does in the remastered games, his older voice is much more soft, faded, and elder-like when compared to his new one which is much more loud, bold, enthusiastic, and younger.
- Excluding Henry and Winston (who can become Toppats depending on Henry's choices), Gene is the first member of the Toppat Clan to appear in the series. Though, this was probably not planned at first due to StD being planned to be the last game in the series.
- He can be seen in the "Luxury" escape pod in the Valiant Hero ending of Completing the Mission, which means he's an elite member of the Toppats though his role in attempting to steal the diamond by becoming mayor could already imply his importance in the Clan.
