― Galeforce to Henry |
General Hubert Galeforce,[1] previously ranked as Captain Hubert Galeforce[2] and known in the legacy series as Captain G, is a supporting character in the Henry Stickmin series.
He is an army officer in the Government, who was in charge of the undercover Toppat Clan raid. It was his idea to "recruit" Henry Stickmin, for better or worse. After a successful raid on the Toppat Airship, he is promoted to general.
He is voiced by PuffballsUnited.
Bios[]
- Infiltrating the Airship: The man in charge of the undercover Toppat raid. It was his idea to recruit Henry.
- Completing the Mission: The results of the Airship raid seem to have lead to a large promotion. He's now a specialist in dealing with the Toppats.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Galeforce has tight eyes and grey long mustache, with a spiky grey beard. He has green shoes. He wears a dark green military cap.
Judging at the color of his beard, he's been on active duty for a long time and he still fights on the front lines, as shown in the "Pure Blooded Thief" storyline in Airship and the "Toppat 4 Life" route of Mission.
Roles[]
General Hubert Galeforce appears as the tritagonist of Infiltrating the Airship and the tetartagonist of Completing the Mission.
In Infiltrating the Airship, Galeforce appears as:
- The tritagonist of Government Supported Private Investigator.
- The deuteragonist of Relentless Bounty Hunter.
- The main antagonist of Rapidly Promoted Executive.
- The tertiary antagonist of Pure Blooded Thief.
In Completing the Mission, Galeforce appears as:
- The tritagonist of Special BROvert Ops, Master Bounty Hunter and Valiant Hero.
- The tetartagonist of Triple Threat and Pardoned Pals.
- The main antagonist of Toppat 4 Life.
- The unseen main antagonist of Toppat King.
- The tertiary antagonist of Toppat Recruits.
Personality[]
Galeforce is a loyal member of the Government with a hatred of the Toppat Clan.
If Henry does exactly as he instructed and either attains evidence for the Toppats' crimes or captures the leader of the Toppat Clan, he keeps his word and erases Henry's criminal record, no strings attached. Not to mention that he does not explicitly open fire on Henry or try to turn against him unless Henry turns against them first.
Even if Henry goes off the rails and decides to steal a huge ruby from the Toppat Clan over the mission, Captain Galeforce ultimately allows him to go, as Henry in the course of this act grounds the Toppat Clan's airship and inadvertently gives the government the best chance they'll ever have of catching most if not all of the Toppat Clan and seizing the records through force. By comparison, one thief is a small fry and not worth wasting time on.
His reasonable nature is further demonstrated in ''Completing the Mission's Pardoned Pals ending. Despite Henry's past conduct, Galeforce still grants him and Ellie pardons as a reward for helping to take down the Toppat Clan. Even in the Special BROvert Ops ending of Mission, he promises that, despite Henry not owing the government anything at the moment, he'll receive a really big favor for helping them out. In a roundabout way, he sticks to his word, as when the job is done, he immediately promotes Charles and Henry into special covert ops agents. When Charles questions the fact that Henry isn't enlisted, Galeforce says that he now is, which gives off the impression that Henry doesn't have a choice, until he follows up with, "unless he doesn't want it." He does bargain with Henry by saying that if he takes up the promotion, he'll run loads more missions with Charles, but through technicality, Galeforce did stick to his word of owing Henry a favor by giving him the option to accept the promotion right after elaborating upon it.
History[]
Infiltrating the Airship[]
Captain Galeforce, who was involved in government operations against the Toppat Clan, ordered Henry Stickmin's capture. He planned on utilizing the criminal's prowess to acheive the ultimate objective of finally pinning the infamous clan to criminal charges by either, A) capturing the leader, taking him into custody, and presumably forcing him to confess or B) collecting incriminating evidence of the Clan's crimes to take down Airship division of the clan and pick off the rest of them later after, both of which would expose the clan for their misdeeds.
Acconpanied by Rupert Price, he wakes up an unconciously captured Henry in Charles' helicopter, and briefs him on the Toppats as well the mission, offering to pardon him of all crimes if he complies.
Relentless Bounty Hunter[]
In the Relentless Bounty Hunter ending, Galeforce greets Henry in the desert along with the rest in the chopper after the tank the latter had stolen earlier lands. Seemingly pleased by the result, Galeforce gives the clear for Charles to hand Henry the pardon document as he siezes Reginald. The two along with Rupert withdraw from the area taking Reg into custody, who gets locked up in the DDP shortly after.
Pure Blooded Thief[]
Galeforce and Charles both note the alarm in the airship and presumed that Henry has gone rogue. In response, Galeforce calls in reinforcements and commences an attack on the airship, which crashes after Henry cripples a rotor. After the airship crashes, Galeforce leads his team in a brief skirmish with the Toppats interupted by the Center for Chaos Containment, during which Reginald and his Right Hand Man escape. Charles intercepts Henry as he is fleeing with the ruby. However, with the Toppat Clan suffering heavy casualties and their airship wrecked, Galeforce ultimately deems Henry not worth the trouble, taking into consideration that he got what he wanted, and orders Charles to withdraw much to his shock though he complies, letting Henery fly away and off into the distance.
Rapidly Promoted Executive[]
Galeforce and Charles are deceived by the dummies. Initially assuming that Henry could be trusted and had a backup plan, they were surprised to discover his betrayal. Galeforce, shattered by this outcome, yells at Henry's name at the airship in rage.
Lightning Quick Larcenist[]
Henry finds a safe, and Galeforce believes that Henry has succeeded. However, upon discovering a mere Teddy Bear in the vault, he facepalms in disappointment.
Completing the Mission[]
After the events of Airship, Galeforce has been promoted to a General ranking and has become a specialist when it comes to dealing with the Toppat Clan. General sets up a Government Military Base where he and his subordinates camp in preparation for the upcoming attack on the Toppats which he refers to as The Toppat Raid. Galeforce appears in multiple pathways of the game. Depending on which endings the player chooses as a starting point, he can be an ally or an enemy of Henry.
- Toppat Recruits/Pardoned Pals: He and his army attack the Toppat Launch Site in The Toppat Raid, with Henry, Ellie Rose and the staff from The Wall getting caught up in the chaos. Ellie and Henry can help the Toppats launch their station, or help Charles to stop it. In the case of the latter, Charles takes them to Galeforce, who pardons them both from their past crimes.
- Valiant Hero: When Henry returns to earth, he finds Galeforce and Paul Ascott near the tent. The general is delighted to learn the destruction of the station, though also confused at Henry's depression, not knowing that Charles has been killed in action.
- Triple Threat: Though not seen, Charles mentions that Galeforce sanctioned him to retrieve Henry and Ellie in return for helping them to disrupt the rocket launch. He also has all government presence withdrawn, intending the trio to safely execute the mission.
- Toppat 4 Life: Henry finds out about the upcoming attack on the launch site, and sabotages Big Boy for it to demolish the camp. When the CCC also intervenes, Galeforce decides to withdraw all forces and cut their losses.
- Special BROvert Ops: After escaping with Charles, the two meet Galeforce, who briefs them on the mission, and offers Henry a reward for his assistance. He has also removed all government forces from the site for the purpose. When the two successfully accomplish their objective, Galeforce commends them and enlists Henry with a promotion, who later embarks on more missions as Charles' partner.
- Master Bounty Hunter: As Charles' and Henry return from their bust-out at The Wall, Galeforce requests Henry's assistance again and has Charles fly him to the other three bounty hunters. Galeforce wants the squad to capture or neutralize the Right Hand Man while the government forces handle the rest, and also reiterates his brief to John Pilksin through the Government Comms Device. After Henry has secured the RHM and fled with Charles, Galeforce commends him, citing that the operation was successful with most Toppats arrested and the rest splitting into harmless groups.
Relationships[]
Charles Calvin[]
Out of all his surbodinates, Charles Calvin is the one who Galeforce is shown to be very close with as the two have a very warm relationship. It can be presumed that they have worked together or have known each other for quite some time prior to the events of Infiltrating the Airship due to both being military veterans[3] as Charles is usually seen working right under Galeforce, who trusts him with special missions, only calling him in for them.
Their close relationship is also evident by the fact that Galeforce only ever refers to Charles as "Charlie", showing that he's close enough to the pilot the point of simply referring to by nickname.
Henry Stickmin[]
Henry starts out as a criminal who shows off quite a few skills Galeforce takes interest in. This is what initially leads to Galeforce capturing Henry and prompting him with the task of taking down the Toppats in exchange for his pardon. Their relationship from their on out is heavily dependent on whether Henry decides to obey and follow through or goes rogue ditching the original mission.
Should Henry work with Charles to sneak around the airship, capture incriminating evidence on the Toppats, and make it out successfully bring down the Airship Division of the Toppat Clan, Galeforce will make Henry a private investigator for the Government who reports under him directly. In all paths stemming from "Government Supported Private Investigator", Galeforce takes note on how well he worked with Charles and will ask him agin for his help in The Toppat Raid, should he discover about Henry's whereabouts after FtC, pairing him up with Charles similar to before. The only path where this doesn't happen is in "Cleaned 'em Out" as Henry is never picked up by Charles after escaping The Wall and is presumably still considered missing by the Government.
Should Henry follow through with the plan and capture the Toppat Leader, Galeforce, very pleased with Henry's work, will take the leader into custody and give Henry his pardon, making him a free man. This leades to the "Relentless Bounty Hunter" ending where the two simply end off on good terms and the Captain lets Henry run free. The only ending in CtM stemming from this one where they interact again in "Master Bounty Hunter" where upon discovering that Charles stopped by to pick Henry up from the The Wall (IRO), accepts Charles request for Henry to join the mission and gives him the all clear, trusting Stickmin with the task of capturing the Right Hand Man and giving the government and edge in the raid. He later compliments Henry upon completing the mission and is happy Henry helped take down the Toppats making this the only post-RBH path where the two become much closer allies.
Should Henry go rogue and steal the Romanian Ruby instead of gathering evidence, Galeforce while furious at him will let him go as Henry still indirectly gives the Captain what he wants through prompthing the government to perform a raid on the airship. He will ultimately show forgiveness towards Henry down the path in "Pardoned Pals" after he and Ellie aid Charles in taking down the Toppats once and for all. This leads him to pardoning Henry (as well as Ellie) ending them off on good terms in that path. This is however the only "Pure Blooded Thief" path that ends with them on good terms as in all the other paths, Galeforce is annnoyed by Henry going rogue and doesn't pardon him, no longer believing the thief can be trusted.
Should Henry trick Galeforce into thinking that he captured Reginald through dummies while he and the leader fly off in the airship in reality, Galeforce and Henry become enemies as the latter sides with Toppat Clan becoming the leader and making them more of a problem then they already are. Endings such as "Toppat King" and "Toppat 4 Life", where Henry isn't betrayed by the Clan, show him actively working against the Government and thwarting Galeforce's raid plans leading the Toppats to victory. The two never interact in any paths that follow the events of "Rapidly Promoted Executive" though it can be inferred that Galeforce hates Henry's guts due to his betrayal and by the way he screams Henry's name after finding out he's been decived, making them mortal enemies in all the paths stemming from this one.
Toppat Clan[]
Due to being a large international criminal clan, the Toppat Clan serves to be Galeforce's sworn enemies and a thorn in his side. After suspicions are raised about the Toppats, he is tasked with finally pinning them to criminal charges all in an effort to take them down. His hatred and dedication to take down the Toppats is what unltimately leads him to being promoted to the rank of a General and being considered a specialist in taking care of the clan.

Trivia[]
- Galeforce is the only supporting character that doesn't die or is presumed dead in any path of the Henry Stickmin series.
- Similary to Ellie, the only main character who doesn't die or is presumed dead in any path of the games, he only dies in fails though unlike the former, who dies in multiple fails, Galeforce only dies in four fails, that being L. Cut mk. II,D.E.B., the Phantom option, and The Moon fails.
- The "G" on his hat original stood for "General", though his rank was later changed to Captain in the remastered version of ItA with him beong promoted to General not too long after the events of the game off-screen.
- His first name "Hubert" is not even mentioned in his Bio or in-game. It's only revealed during the opening credits to the "Master Bounty Hunter" path.
- Even if Henry fails to take down the Toppat Clan Airship Division or arrest any of them (In either PBT or RPE), he will still be promoted to the rank of General. It can be assumed he was still able to find a way to link the Toppats to criminal charges after these paths which allowed him to get a promotion and conduct The Toppat Raid in Completing the Mission, being considered to be a specialist in dealing with the Toppats by that point.
- His role in the Codec Call of "Master Bounty Hunter" route is a reference to Colonel Roy Campbell from Metal Gear Solid.
- Galeforce is one of the most important characters, as he had Henry captured for government purposes, hence prompting the events of ItA and any consequences.
- He is also the reason Henry and Charles meet each other with Charles becoming the deuteragonist of the series and having a major impact on the plot in most routes. Charles' relationship with Henry is because of Galeforce, which can also lead to the International Rescue Operative ending from Fleeing the Complex with Charles helping Henry out because of his affiliation to the Government which would create 2 different paths (SBO and MBH) in the following game (CtM).
- Galeforce is the only character to refer to Charles as "Charlie", with the latter being a beta alias of Charles that was not corrected in the final version and eventually kept in future works. Intrestingly enough he still calls Charles "Charlie" in the remastered version of ItA and even later in CtM showing a special bond between the two.

- ↑ Galeforce's full name is revealed through the "Master Bounty Hunter" intro credits
- ↑ As seen through his design changes, appearances, and Bios, Galeforce was formerly a Military Captain. Although he is only referred to as Captain Galeforce in his ItA Bio
- ↑ Charles' bio in ItA states he's "a veteran helicopter pilot for the government, while Galeforce's appearance and role in the games strongly suggest he's been serving for a long time.
