Melvin Poolridge is a minor antagonist in Fleeing the Complex, who appears only in "Convict Allies" as a supporting antagonist.
He is a nerd who works as a guard at The Wall and loves spending time with his friend group, The Boys™.
Profile
Appearance
He is shown wearing grey shoes and a formal wall guard cap. He also wears big square glasses with a black rim, reflecting his nerdy personality. In Instant Replay, he is edited, seen with two illuminati symbols right over his eyes.
Personality
As shown through his bio and appearance, Melvin is huge nerd, a term used for people seen as overly intellectual, obsessive, introverted, or lacking social skills who are typically unattractive. Such a people may spend inordinate amounts of time on unpopular, little known, or non-mainstream activities, which are generally either highly technical, abstract, or relating to topics of science fiction or fantasy, to the exclusion of more mainstream activities.
Despite this he is a bit of a bro himself and loves hanging out with his other, much more, popular friends with them even considering him as part of "The Boys™".
Fleeing the Complex
He makes his sole appearance during the "Convict Allies" path.
Along with Joe Joshin and Ace Apex, he corners Henry Stickmin and Ellie Rose in the hallway after the two have freed all of the prisoners, while Ace and Joe confront the duo, Melvin can be seen visibly scratching his nose. To defeat them, Henry and Ellie need to use a weapon each:
- Grenade + Crossbow - Henry throws out a grenade while Ellie shoots it with a bolt, which hits Ace Ape's face. Melvin is scratching his nose without noticing it, while the deathmarked Apex sacrifices himself to take down the two convicts.
- Sniper Rifle + Crossbow - Henry tries to jump and shoot Melvin and the other guards in a single move but ends up shooting Ellie instead. If the flavor text is clicked, Melvin can be seen during the MLG sentence, still scratching his nose but with illuminati symbols over his eyes right before a huge explosion happens which ends the replay.
- Grenade + Taser - Henry throws a grenade that is then electrified by Ellie, but the combination creates a huge explosion that destroys a large portion of The Wall, killing Melvin and everyone else in the room.
- Sniper Rifle + Taser - Ellie tasers Henry, whose electrized shots hit Melvin and the other guards. With the path clear, Ellie and Henry can proceed their way.
Trivia
- The Boys™ as mentioned in his bio is a reference to the popular meme, Me and The Boys.
- His name might be a reference to Calvin Coolidge, the 30 the president of the USA.
- If you use Sniper + Crossbow, go to the fail message, and tap on flavor text, Melvin Poolridge will be shown with illuminati symbols on his eyes at the end. This is a reference to the Dank Memes (MLG) in YouTube. Doing this will give you the Achievement "XXNOOOBSLAYERXX."
