A detailed chronological summary of the life of Reginald Copperbottom.

Backstory[]

Reginald CtM Infobox

Reginald Coppterbottom was one of the regular members of the Toppat Clan until he eventually overthrew Terrence Suave, later becoming the new leader of the clan and Toppat Airship Pilot. The Reginald became good friends with Right Hand Man, and also his RHM became one of the most loyal Toppat Clan members.

Infiltrating the Airship[]

Listen, listen. You've defeated my Right Hand Man, and you've defeated me. I surrender the airship to you.
― Reginald trying to bargain with Henry[src]

Government Supported Private Investigator[]

Henry is at home, and he tunes in to the news. A report reveals that Reginald Copperbottom and the Right Hand Man were arrested by the Government to the DDP, along with hundreds of other Toppat members. Many more were able to escape, but the evidence now pins them to criminal charges. The Toppat Airship was subsequently seized. According to Sven's dialogue from SBO, he (mentioned as old leaders) left details for this plan before he was arrested.[1]

Pure Blooded Thief[]

Reginald and The Right Hand Man are shown to have survived the Airship crash, and are looking on in shock at the battle between the Government and the Toppat Clan. When the Center for Chaos Containment launches the prototype CD, The Right Hand Man notices Henry with the stolen ruby, but Reginald urges him to leave it behind and retreat for the sake of the Toppat Clan's longevity.

Relentless Bounty Hunter/Rapidly Promoted Executive[]

ItA RHM and Reginald

Reginald with his Right Hand Man.

Charles Calvin launches Henry inside the Cannon Ball towards the Cockpit of the Airship. When the ball crashes into the cockpit, Reginald runs away while the Right Hand Man tries to hold Henry off.

Henry captures Reginald in the cargo bay. He opens the bay doors to bring his captive to the waiting helicopter. However, Reginald, impressed by Henry's achievement, surrenders the airship and leadership of the clan to Henry. Now Henry has to choose between taking the offer or continuing his mission.

If Henry chooses to accept Reginald's offer, Reginald and Henry throw dummies of themselves overboard, and both dummies hit the ground hard. Thinking that the two men jumped from the Airship, Charles and General Hubert Galeforce pilot the helicopter to the ground and inspect the scene. Charles is concerned about the fact that the two had jumped from a high altitude without anything to break their fall, but Galeforce assures him that Henry likely had a method to evade the fall damage. However, the two Government personnel discover that Henry and Reginald had thrown dummies to lure them away from the airship. Realizing that they had been double-crossed, Galeforce screams at Henry in rage.

Back at the Airship, Reginald lends Henry his upper top hat, decorated with his necklace-- officially transferring leadership of the clan to the newcomer. During his tenure as leader of the Toppat Clan, Henry is shown leading meetings, embarking on more criminal heists, and enjoying his time on the high seat. Reginald is planning on overthrowing him unless Henry manages to impress him sufficiently.

If Henry chooses to continue his mission, Henry forces Reginald inside the tank and drives out of the airship while under attack. Charles chases the free-falling tank to the ground. The tank lands and both live without a single scratch. Henry turns in Reginald to Galeforce and the Government, and Charles provides him with a pardon document signed by president Jefferson Smithsonian, later the helicopter flies away and Reginald was arrested to the DDP. The game ends with Henry driving off into the desert with his newly acquired tank.

Between ItA and FtC[]

In Government Supported Private Investigator & Relentless Bounty Hunter routes, he still imprisoned in DDP.

In Pure Blooded Thief routes, he along with Right Hand Man and other surviving Toppats, walked from the desert to the Toppat Launch Site.

In Rapidly Promoted Executive routes, Henry would have conversations with Reginald Copperbottom about the construction of an Orbital Station[2]. It is unknown how much input Henry had on the plan, but in any case the Orbital Station was completely built by the time Henry was thrown in The Wall. Reginald managed the Toppat Clan during Henry's absences.

Fleeing the Complex[]

That was a close one, Henry. But I'm not going to pull you up... See without you, I become the leader of Toppat Clan again. I just wanted to look you in the eyes as I took it all back. Goodbye.
― Reginald betraying Henry[src]
Reginald betrays Henry

Reginald overthrows Henry Stickmin.

After being captured by Dmitri Johannes Petrov in The Wall, Henry intends to escape the Complex. Henry decides to wait for a transfer. Ellie Rose is first removed from the holding cell, before Henry is pushed into his own cell at 12:30 PM. In the cell, Henry begins to plot his escape. A drone cuts into the floor around Henry, causing it to fall and crush a Wall staff member below. The crushed guard had a phone, and Henry uses it to Phone a Friend for help. Henry contacts Reginald and gets him to pilot the Airship towards The Wall.

It takes Reginald one hour (Two hours in Legacy) to get to the complex, he arrives at 1:35 AM. Once he arrives, Henry walks out the room and stumbles into the cafeteria. Redirecting the Airship to Henry's position, Reginald is able to locate Henry inside, and asks him how to proceed with the rescue mission. The transport unit is launched from the Airship into the cafeteria, with Wilhelm Krieghaus, Sureshot Sherman and Ahnoldt Schwarz on board. Sherman and Wilhelm wage battle with the Wall staff, while Ahnoldt provides Henry with a selection of objects to help him reach the Airship.

Using his trusty scooter, Henry launches himself from the cafeteria to the Airship. The scooter comes up short, forcing Henry to disembark. Reginald is there to greet Henry, catching him before he falls. However, Reginald does not pull Henry up and reveals his true agenda, revealing that he had the Airship set course for The Wall to confront Henry and take back his position as leader of the Toppat Clan. He tells Henry that he just wanted to look him in the eyes as he took it all back. Reginald then lets go of Henry, causing him to fall off the Airship to his death in the waters far below.

Between FtC and CtM[]

In Government Supported Private Investigator & Relentless Bounty Hunter routes, he still imprisoned in DDP. And in any International Rescue Operative routes he still imprisoned in DDP on 100%.

In Pure Blooded Thief routes he was already with other surviving Toppats in the Toppat Launch Site.

In Rapidly Promoted Executive routes we could say that TK & T4L are the only endings where he and the other toppats got to the Toppat Launch Site using the Airship.

Completing the Mission[]

I gotcha Henry. You know… I could drop you right now and nobody would know… But why would I do that? I saw you out there! You put yourself on the line to save the Toppat Clan. You’ve truly earned my respect. I can’t think of a better person to lead us.
― Reginald after saving Henry, shortly pondering on the possibility of retaking the title of leader

Reginald can appear in a variety of different scenarios. His relationship with Henry is dependent on the endings chosen from Infiltrating the Airship and Fleeing the Complex.

He does not appear in any route that begins with the "Government Supported Private Investigator" or "Relentless Bounty Hunter" endings, having been arrested and taken into custody to the DDP, and is instead replaced by Sven Svensson or the Right Hand Man, respectively. However, In the Special BROvert Ops route, Reginald's portrait can be seen when Henry reaches the gallery. And in the Master Bounty Hunter route, Reginald's poster can be seen during the ending.

He appears in every route that begins with the "Rapidly Promoted Executive" and "Pure Blooded Thief" ranks.

Special BROvert Ops[]

Reginald's Portrait

He is never seen physically in this ending, although his portrait can be seen in the orbital station's main hall.

Jewel Baron[]

When Henry returns to steal the Norwegian Emerald, Reginald attempts to shoot him down while Henry is still attempting to board the rocket. After Henry steals the Emerald and encounters the Right Hand Man, he congratulates the Right Hand Man on capturing the intruder but becomes more paranoid as he realizes who Henry is, telling the Right Hand Man to not let him get away with a second robbery. However, his efforts fail as the Right Hand Man is killed and Supreme Dominance, which he uses to attempt to cut Henry, is destroyed. He attempts to escape in a pod but is sucked out as the window opens, cursing Henry before dying in space. Although Henry knows of his death, the reporters covering the incident are unaware of his fate.

Pardoned Pals/Toppat Recruits[]

In the aftermath of the "Pure Blooded Thief" ending, Reginald and the rest of the Toppats are aware of Henry's theft of the Romanian Ruby, and as such, are initially hostile to him. When Henry and Ellie attempt to join the Toppats after escaping from The Wall, he immediately recognizes Henry as the thief of the Ruby, pointing a gun at him. Once Henry and Ellie surrender however, he compliments Henry for his skills and agrees to allow him to join, as long as he returns the Ruby. When Dmitri and Grigori barge in, he trusts Ellie with his gun, allowing her to take out Grigori. Later, he inducts Henry and Ellie into the clan stating that they "really showed their gusto when it counted". If Henry and Ellie choose to help the Government instead, Reginald and the other Toppats are killed in the rocket explosion.

Stickmin Space Resort[]

When Henry attempts to steal the rocket, Reginald orders the clan to stop Henry (although he doesn't recognize him.) When Henry launches the rocket, Reginald is seen shouting "Nooooooo!" He is not seen after Henry successfully steals the rocket and turns the orbital space station into a resort beacause he is getting arrested off screen.

Master Bounty Hunter[]

ReginaldPoster

Reginald doesn't appear physically, having been captured by Henry during the events of the "Relentless Bounty Hunter" scenario, but does briefly appear on a poster during the ending.

Toppat Civil Warfare[]

Reginald is initially passive toward Henry when he returns from imprisonment in The Wall. After hearing Ellie's story of abandonment however, Reginald immediately denounces Henry and deems him unfit to be the leader of the Toppat Clan, rallying his clanmates to the effort of overthrowing him from power. During the denouncement ceremony on the Airship, Henry tosses Reginald overboard, forcing the Right Hand Man to rescue him. The two are later killed when Henry's escape pod collides with them.

Toppat King[]

Reginald has come to be dependent on the new leader of the Toppat Clan, as exemplified when he waited for Henry to come save him from being arrested by the Government. He also shows a sense of comradery, leaving the rocket's door open for Henry and catching him when he fails to land on the rocket itself. However, he retains his mischievous side, floating the idea of betrayal while momentarily leaving Henry dangling off the rocket, although he prevents it from interfering with his sense of comradery.

Toppat 4 Life[]

Reginald is surprised to find Henry alive and well, and becomes even more astonished to learn that Henry had single-handedly deterred the Government from launching an assault on the Toppat Launch Site. This set of events causes Reginald to deepen his respect toward the Toppat Leader, declaring that the future of the Toppat Clan is bright with Henry in charge.

Revenged[]

With Henry presumed deceased, Reginald returns to his former position as leader of the Toppat Clan. However, Henry soon returns, seeking revenge on Reginald for betraying him. Reginald is surprised to see Henry alive but remains determined to eliminate him once and for all. He initially orders the Right Hand Man to deal with Henry while he tries to escape the airship. Henry eventually catches him and staples him to the wall, leaving him to die. Reginald, in turn, shoots his cybernetic spine and cripples him, declaring that they will share a last ride. After the airship crashes into the rocket, Reginald concedes defeat before asking Henry if his revenge was worth it, He then succumbs to his wounds. Henry later dies from his own injuries.
