The Romanian Ruby (Romanian: Rubin Românesc) is a giant ruby, and one of the treasures that the Toppat Clan keeps in their possession. It appears in Infiltrating the Airship during the "Pure Blooded Thief" ending. It is part of a set of three giant gemstones, the other two being the Tunisian Diamond and the Norwegian Emerald.
Infiltrating the Airship[]
The Ruby is located in the vault of the Airship. When Henry sneaks into the Airship with the Grapple Gun in his attempt to bring down the Toppat Clan, he spots the Ruby while traveling through a series of ventilation ducts. This prompts him to abandon his mission and try to steal the ruby instead. He breaks into the vault, and shrinks the Ruby so he can carry it around, but is caught in the act by Geoffrey Plumb when he leaves the vault and sets off an alarm, and the government mounts an aerial assault. After Henry uses power armor to knock down the airship, he steals a flying Powered Armor from CCC agent Mert Steel. Charles spots Henry with the Ruby, but Galeforce finds Henry not worth the trouble with the scale of Toppat losses, and Henry gets away with the Ruby.
Completing the Mission[]
Valiant Hero[]
The Romanian Ruby is mentioned by Alice Hamilton on the news channel when Henry is sitting in the tavern.
In the routes that use "Pure Blooded Thief" as a starting point, Henry is not allied with either the Government or the Toppat Clan. The latter is aware about the fact that Henry had stolen the gemstone from their possession, and as such, they are hostile to him. The Romanian Ruby is the overarching plot motivator for all but one of those endings.
- "Jewel Baron" - When Henry breaches the Toppat Orbital Station to steal the Norwegian Emerald, he encounters the Right Hand Man, who recognizes him as the guy who stole their Ruby. Upon learning of Henry's return, Reginald Copperbottom sets the Clan on high alert and even orders the station's superweapon, the Supreme Dominance, to fire on Henry, but this ultimately fails and Henry escapes with the Emerald. In the vault, the ruby's reserved space instead contains a rough sketch of it.
- "Pardoned Pals"/"Toppat Recruits" - When Henry and Ellie plan to join the Toppat Clan after escaping from The Wall, Reginald recognizes the former as the "guy who stole our ruby". Acknowledging their skills as criminals, Reginald allows the two into the Clan if they return the gemstone. Once they join the clan, several Toppats display a slight acceptance towards the two, and the Ruby is returned in the future. If they side with the government, the Ruby is still kept by Henry.
- "Stickmin Space Resort" - The Ruby is not mentioned in this ending because Reginald and Right Hand Man do not recognize Henry, as they do not confront him personally, but only mistake him for an intruder.
Trivia[]
- The Romanian Ruby was only referred to as the "ruby" in Infiltrating the Airship. It is only referred to as the Romanian Ruby during the introduction of the "Jewel Baron" ending.
- In Among Us in the Airship map, one of the new tasks is to polish the Ruby.
- The ruby was octagonal in the legacy version and Hexagonal in the remastered version. The legacy design was then reused for the Emerald.
- Unlike the Tunisian Diamond and Norwegian Emerald, it is not used in any options.
- The Romanian Ruby is the only gem with an alliterative name.
- There aren't actually any ruby mines in Romania.
- Judging by the ending of "Jewel Baron", where there was a placeholder instead of a ruby in the Vault, most likely there was also a placeholder instead of a ruby in all GSPI paths. Since the Airship was impounded with all its contents inside, including the ruby.
- It is unknown why Alice Hamilton, in Valiant Hero's intro, says (Same as in Jewel Baron, but off-screen) that the Toppat Clan is thought to be responsible for theft of the Romanian Ruby. Since Valiant Hero takes place after GSPI, in which the Airship was impounded along with the Ruby inside, and the fact of its theft by the Toppat Clan should have been officially confirmed and covered in the news.
