The Tank in a Box, simply known as the Tank, is a vehicle introduced in Infiltrating the Airship.
Role[]
Infiltrating the Airship[]
The tank is stored in the Cargo Bay of the Toppat Airship, concealed by wrappings and the "Handle with Care" text. Several times during Infiltrating the Airship, the box containing the tank can be seen in the background whenever Henry reaches the cargo bay.
In the "Relentless Bounty Hunter" route where Henry chooses to refuse Reginald's offer and continue his mission for the government, he somehow unwraps the vehicle, forces Reginald inside, jumps in, then drives off the Airship. The Tank crashes into the desert and survives, where Henry turns Reginald to the authorities, takes the government's pardon and drives off into the distance, presumably storing it afterwards.
In other endings, the Tank remains sealed and is never used, yet there are several possibilities:
- In GSPI, the whole airship is impounded, hinting that the Tank, as with everything else on board, were also seized as government property.
- In PBT, the airship is destroyed in a crash. What happened to the Tank remains unknown, though it likely survived with its durability and the following skirmish would have prevented any possibilities of salvage.
- In RPE, the Tank simply stays with the airship.
Completing the Mission[]
The Tank physically appears in Little Nest Egg and Capital Gains, used by Henry to raid the Toppat Train.
Little Nest Egg[]
Henry rams his tank into the train in order to gain access to it, and the vehicle is never seen afterwards, presumably reclaimed by the Toppats or damaged beyond repair.
Capital Gains[]
Henry and Ellie approach the train with the Tank as it blocks munitions fired by Toppat personnel. Henry then fires a shot with its main gun, blocking the tunnel with the resulting debris. The train crashes afterwards, presumably killing many Toppats, while the Tank's gun is damaged. Ellie and Henry then move onto the money cart itself. With the death of the Right Hand Man, the Tank and the train were deserted as wild wrecks, never to be seen again.
Other possibilities:
- In Revenged, the Toppat Airship is destroyed in a collision with the Tank still inside. As with PBT, is fate remains uncertain.
- In Toppat King and Toppat 4 Life, the Tank, like the Romanian Ruby, was transferred to the rocket by the Toppats.
Trivia[]
- The Tank is a reference to the insignia of Newgrounds (which PuffballsUnited served), which contains both the titular vehicle and Tankman, the mascot of Newgrounds. This was replicated at the end of RBH where Henry drives the tank away.
- In certain scenes, such as during the initial chase in Capital Gains. the tank's tracks are inanimate.
- The Tank is not realistic by modern standards for several reasons:
- It does not have any viewports for operators view their surroundings with less risk of injury or death.
- Its turret is static and has no elevation/depression/rotation.
- It does not have any secondary weapons to compliment and compensate for any negative attributes of its sole armament.
- It appears to suffer from reduced track tension, despite its ridiculous velocity.
- It only requires one crew member to operate and, thanks to its unrealistic dimensions, can be even controlled while standing.
