Tom Hardly is a British police officer and a minor character that appears as a major antagonist in Escaping the Prison. He appears as one of the two secondary antagonists -alongside Burt Slim- of "Badass Bust Out." According to his bio, he takes his job very seriously but never takes off his sunglasses.

Appearance

He is a stickman with a police hat, blue sunglasses, blue shoes and he is carrying a shotgun. In the legacy version, he is wearing black goggle-shaped sunglasses and brown shoes.

Escaping the Prison

Tom Hardly appears alongside Burt Slim in the "Badass Bust Out" ending when Henry Stickmin falls from a vent and attempts to outrun him and a fellow officer. Tom and Burt both chase and shoot Henry but he manages outrun and dodge their bullets unless the Time runs out where they then catch Henry. He almost manages to catch Henry but before he can Henry then runs up the wall, does a backflip, and outruns him again.

Tom and his fellow officer then lose track of him until Henry gets held up in a situation with Captain Ed Roberts and some other police officers. Tom, Burt, and the others surrender to Henry Stickmin once he sees what he's capable of doing.

Trivia

• Tom Hardly's name is based on the famous actor Tom Hardy, who's best known for playing "Bane" in The Dark Knight Rises and "Venom" in the 2018 Marvel film of the same name.
• In the original version of EtP, a completely different guard is shown in his place when Henry first falls down into the hallway, with light blue shoes rather than brown and no sunglasses. This is changed in the remastered version to clearly be Tom.
• Tom's face is on the achievement icon for the "Badass Bust Out" ending in both the Legacy and Remastered versions of Escaping the Prison. This makes him one of the only minor characters in the series to have themselves on a medal or achievement.
• In the legacy version of Escaping the Prison, Tom and Burt were absent during the showdown between Henry Stickmin and Captain Ed Roberts. This was changed in the remastered Version to make it more clear that the duo were still on Henry's tail.
