Toss is an option in Fleeing the Complex, during the "Convict Allies" pathway.
Henry Stickmin and Ellie Rose toss the caps that Ellie picked up earlier past an elevator, causing the guards in there to notice. They investigate and thus discover three escaped convicts in a second elevator thinking they killed a guard.
While they proceed to the arrest, Henry and Ellie use the first elevator to escape to the surface. This results in a success.

Colby Phelps: “We’ll regroup with-uh..."
(A hat can be seen being tossed to the otherside, notifying Darek. He goes out the elevator to investigate the sound, only to see three convicts on the other elevator.)
Darek Gorulik: “There is convict here!”
(He raises his gun after calling Colby for backup to apprehend the three, leaving the first elevator unguarded for Ellie and Henry to use.)
Derek Gorulik: (Offscreen) “Get down on ground!”
