I do not understand this!
― Wilhelm Krieghaus struggling to open a door[src]

Wilhelm Krieghaus is a member of the Toppat Clan appearing as a minor antagonist in Infiltrating the Airship, a minor deuteragonist in Fleeing the Complex and a recurring minor antagonist in Completing the Mission.

He either comes from Germany or is native to the German language rather than English as he sports a German accent and his first name "Wilhelm" is of German origin.

Bio

  • Infiltrating the Airship: He's pretty sharp when it comes to technology. The Airship's doors are just notoriously finicky.
  • Fleeing the Complex: He may struggle with technology, but when it comes to action and combat he excels.
  • Completing the Mission: He's been a Toppat member for over 40 years. His English has improved throughout the years, but he still has an accent.

Role

In Infiltrating The Airship, he appears as a major antagonist in Government Supported Private Investigator. In Fleeing The Complex, he appears only in The Betrayed as a deuteragonist along with Ahnoldt Schwarz and Sureshot Sherman. In Completing The Mission, he appears as a major antagonist in Jewel Baron and a minor antagonist in Valiant Hero and Toppat Civil Warfare.

Profile

Appearance

Wilhelm Krieghaus is a Toppat who has a thin mustache with a fairly small black top hat and black shoes. In CtM he now wears dark brownish shoes.

Infiltrating the Airship

Krieghaus appears during the GSPI ending. He is standing outside the door leading to the records library, but has great trouble opening said door with his keycard. to proceed, Henry can ask Charles Calvin to:

  • Remote Access - Charles tries to open the door by hacking, but ends up making the floor under Henry send him to a hole. Wilhelm notices it confusedly.
  • Mind Control - Charles controls Wilhelm's mind and tries to put the card to open the door. Charles ends up accidentally smashing the card while trying to put it in.
  • Inside - Charles brings up a gun to try to kill Wilhelm, but in the process he ends up accidentally shooting Henry too.
  • Bone Melt - Charles remotely melt Krieghaus' bones, reducing him to a lump of flesh. Henry takes Krieghaus' keycard and opens the door.

Somehow, Krieghaus survives and is melded back together by the Toppats.

Fleeing the Complex

Krieghaus appears in the "The Betrayed" ending. He is still alive and well in this path since it continues from "Rapidly Promoted Executive", thus the events of GSPI never happened. He is one of three Toppats who break into The Wall with a Drill Pod to bust Henry out. Wilhelm along with Sureshot Sherman hold off the guards as Henry makes his way to the Airship. It's not shown if he survives the gunfight with the guards at The Wall.

Completing the Mission

Krieghaus is seen during the "Jewel Baron" ending (Continuing from "Pure Blooded Thief", thus Krieghaus is still alive, and never fought in The Wall). He and the Right Hand Man are in the Orion Lounge of the Toppat Orbital Station, and catch Henry as he attempts to steal the Norwegian Emerald. To defeat both, Henry can:

  • Emerald - Henry throws the emerald to try to crush Wilhelm and Right Hand Man, but the emerald is too heavy to be thrown far away. Right Hand Man shoots Henry while Wilhelm smiles (on the fail screen image)
  • Chance Time - Henry throws the dice to see if he could win the emerald, but it turns out the dice forces him to give it to Right Hand Man. Wilhelm and Right Hand Man does victory poses.
  • Yell - Henry releases a powerful yell so loud that it breaks the glass on the Lounge and sends all the three into space. Henry is able to save himself by taking Right Hand Man's hat, which contains an oxygen mask. It's not shown if Krieghaus somehow saved himself, making likely that he suffocated in space.

Wilhelm Krieghaus in Valiant Hero.

Krieghaus is also seen during the "Valiant Hero" pathway, where he is seen in the intro with 2 other Toppat members, Mr. Villain and Gremlin. Here he is seen getting beamed up into the Toppat Orbital Station along with the other two. Because "Valiant Hero" continues "Government Supported Private Investigator", this means that Krieghaus somehow recovered from the bone melt, like mentioned above and that he also was not arrested during "Government Supported Private Investigator."

In the "Toppat Civil Warfare" ending, he appears in the end screen with Ellie vs Henry along with other Toppat members who sided with Ellie's main faction of the Toppat Clan.

Quotes

  • "Put the card in."
  • "Ok, press this button."
  • "I do not understand this!"
  • "Groans" (When the Mind Control option appeared)

Trivia

  • His first name is a reference to the "Wilhelm Scream," a very popular stock sound effect.
  • If in Infiltrating the Airship Henry has Charles Calvin mind controls Wilhelm, Charles remarks him as a moron.
  • He is one of the 3 Toppat clan members to appear in 3 games. The other two are also Reginald Copperbottom and Thomas Chestershire.
  • There is a minor inconsistency in his bios: In Infiltrating the Airship, it says: "He's pretty sharp when it comes to technology. The Airship's doors are just notoriously finnicky."
    • But in Fleeing the Complex, it says: "He may struggle with technology, but when it comes to action and combat he excels." Whether this is intentional or an error is unknown.
  • Many fans have questioned his unexplained appearance in Valiant Hero. Part of the Valiant Hero timeline is Government Supported Private Investigator and in GSPI, his bones were melted and all the Toppats on the Airship were arrested. It’s definitely questionable how he both recovered from the bone melt, and escaped arrest.
  • Krieghaus' voice lines in Government Supported Private Investigator confirm that he either originates from Germany or is native to the English language as he can be seen talking in a German accent.
    • However, it is most likely that Krieghaus is German as the first name "Wilhelm" originates from German origin. Krieghaus also means warhouse in German.
